Big Brother 24 Cast Announcement Won’t Be Until Day Before Premiere

Big Brother has announced that, unlike other seasons, the season 24 cast members will not be revealed until the day before the July 6 premiere.

Fans who have been eagerly awaiting the announcement of the Big Brother 24 houseguests will have to wait a bit longer, as the show has shared that the cast list will not be revealed until the day before the July 6 premiere. Details about the upcoming season have been scarce, but fans know that host Julie Chen Moonves will return as usual. There will be a live move-in, but no live audience. The live feeds will begin on premiere night at 9:30 p.m. PT/12:30 a.m. ET.

This year, Big Brother 24 will feature new houseguests, with no returning cast members. The season will be 82 days long, which is on the shorter side for the show, with the finale airing on September 25. The Big Brother grand prize, which was increased to $750,000 in season 23, appears to be the same for season 24.

In a tweet Thursday, Big Brother announced that the Big Brother 24 cast will not be revealed until July 5, the day before the premiere. The tweet reads, “Hey #BigBrother fans, enjoy your long weekend. We’ll be announcing the #BB24 cast TUESDAY. See you then.” The tweet could be a response to fans who have been speculating that the cast should have been announced by now, especially since the houseguests are usually revealed about a week before they move into the Big Brother house.

Some fans are wondering if COVID-19 has played a role in the late announcement of the houseguests since the casts of Big Brother 22 and Big Brother 23 had to be changed at the last minute because of contestants testing positive before entering the house. Big Brother winners Josh Martinez and Kaycee Clark were both supposed to compete on Big Brother 22, the second all-stars season, but they had to be removed from the cast just days before the live move-in because they received positive COVID-19 test results. They were replaced by Memphis Garrett and Keesha Smith. Additionally, three days before the Big Brother 23 premiere, previously announced cast member Christie Valdiserri tested positive for COVID-19 despite being vaccinated and following all of the guidelines. She was replaced by Claire Rehfuss. Big Brother fans are now theorizing that the cast is being kept under wraps until the last minute in case it has to be changed before premiere night.

Although Big Brother fans will have to hold out a little bit longer for the season 24 cast announcement, hopefully it will be worth the wait. Fans never know when the next Big Brother legend will appear on their screens with an incredible strategy. Big Brother has taught everyone to “expect the unexpected,” so season 24 is sure to be full of surprises.
