Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 2 is in full swing, bringing map changes, a new battle pass featuring Marvel’s Doctor Strange and Prowler, and tons of challenges to complete. From seasonal quests to a new character collection to complete, there is no shortage of activities at hand. This guide focuses on the Fortnite Damage a Tank to Collect Armor Samples quest, which debuted in the second weekly batch of the season.
If you’re in need of more help, we have guides covering the deploy sensors at Logjam Lumberyard, Tilted Towers, and Rocky Reels, find and destroy a clocked IO Build Jammer, plant a data scraper at the tail of an IO Airship, search chests on IO Airships, and launch yourself from a Siege Cannon quests. Yes, all names are absurdly long.
Fortnite Damage a Tank to Collect Armor Samples Location
As part of the Fortnite Resistance quests, you’re tasked to damage a tank to collect armor samples across different locations. This quest unlocked during the second week of the Resistance quests, right after I finished the Recover the Missing Battle Bus Plans objective.
You first need to complete the Establish Device Uplink near a Seven Outpost objective. The exact one you choose to pursue is up to you, but I found the outpost close to the Mighty Monument on the eastern side of the map to be the easiest to navigate, so I recommend for you to follow my steps to complete the quest as promptly as possible.
Now, the next step tasks you to damage a tank to collect armor samples in Fortnite. This is rather straightforward, but tanks aren’t exactly everywhere. For your convenience, though, we’re heading over to the Daily Bugle. In order to get there quickly, I grabbed a speedboat from the same island of the Seven Outpost and just rushed there.
Upon arrival, you want to head to the southern corner of the Daily Bugle, right beneath the IO Airship if you’re looking at the map for reference. Once there, head over to the entrance and you’re going to find a tank on plain sight.
Using any weapon (yes, that includes your pickaxe) go ahead and start attacking the tank. After a couple seconds, you’re going to see items flying from it. These are the armor samples you need to collect. Repeat this until you’ve gathered two samples.
That’s it for this quest! If it doesn’t appear available for you right away, make sure to complete the deploy sensors at Logjam Lumberyard, Tilted Towers, and Rocky Reels quest and the find and destroy a clocked IO Build Jammer quest beforehand. For some reason the Resistance quests stay within one single slot in the Quests tab instead of a list, so make sure to double check that you haven’t missed any.

In case you haven’t already, make sure to stick around Coney Crossroads to search chests on the IO Airship, as well as launch yourself from the Siege Cannon when you inevitably have to escape. If you’re looking for a series of challenges that aren’t quite as hard as they sound, make sure to follow through with them as soon as possible to start leveling up your battle pass.
