Hopefully No More Heroes III Runs Better on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox

No More Heroes III is no longer a Nintendo Switch exclusive, as Travis Touchdown’s third (and maybe final) rank-climbing romp is coming to PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S this year.

Grasshopper’s action game is coming to every other platform thanks to a partnership with XSEED Games, which is publishing the port. It will also come with a new day 1 edition on consoles that includes a CD soundtrack, an art book, and a little license plate from the series’ setting of Santa Destroy that says “Moe~” on it.

Our favorite otaku assassin returns! Travis Touchdown has been forced out of retirement to defend not only Santa Destroy, but Earth itself! Bring on the beam katana and take on Travis’ toughest challenge yet in #NoMoreHeroes3, coming this fall to PS4, PS5, Xbox, and PC! pic.twitter.com/kdEJnonUd5

As a person who reviewed the original Switch version (and liked it a great deal), I’m curious if the game will just look and run substantially better on more powerful hardware. But even that feels like an unfair judgment call on the Switch’s capabilities, as most Switch games didn’t look as bad as the worst sections of No More Heroes III. So I don’t know if being on more powerful hardware is going to help it on that front, but it would be nice if No More Heroes III didn’t look like a Wii game for large swaths of its playtime.

All that being said, if you were someone who may have played previous No More Heroes games on PlayStation and Xbox consoles, you might want to get caught up on No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle, which never came to either platform. It’s on Switch and PC, however. Travis Strikes Again, a spin-off released on Switch and eventually PS4, is also pretty important to getting caught up on No More Heroes III’s story. So at the very least look those games up on YouTube if you’re looking to jump in at the final act.
